Happy Memorial Day weekend! This holiday gives me the chance to break out a wardrobe favorite. I will use any excuse to wear stripes. Sometimes, I think I need therapy for my pattern obsession. I like sideways stripes, up-and-down stripes, peppermint stripes, barber stripes, tiny stripes, big stripes, the White Stripes. Good gracious. Anyway, you get the point.
Nothing says American holiday like the colors red, white, and blue. But I figured it's time to switch up. Instead of sporting my usual blue jeans, I opted for these white flare legs. They fit me like they were custom made. I get just a little nervous wearing white, because I think I'm going to get it dirty. I keep these bad boys wrapped in plastic and only bring them out for moments like this. White is crisp and it makes any outfit pop.
To get this look, I went shopping at my go-to thrift stores Salvation Army and Goodwill. I wanted something a little nautical for the weekend, but I needed a bold color. I was able to score this candy-striped top and these red tortoise shell sunglasses for a bargain. While at the checkout counter, I spotted the white and gold link necklace. For some reason it reminds me of The Love Boat. Why stop there with the 80s reference? I just knew that this Melody Ehsani watch ring would seal the deal.
Now I know that I'm wearing sandals in the photo, but I've been dying for a pair of summer skimmers. I've been searching for the perfect ones, and wasn't satisfied until I saw these Sperry Top-Siders. I just fell in love. They look comfy and chic, and come in really nice colors. If you're really trying to make a statement, go for the sequins ones. Guess I'm ready to go enjoy the weekend on my yacht. If only!
Enjoy your weekend.
P.S. Don't forget your sunscreen.
